Of course, this change may seem a little challenging to undertake, but rest assured that it isn’t as difficult as it seems if you do your research well. A little hard work, attention to detail, and a commitment to follow the given steps should get you there.
Backup the Adobe BC Website via FTP
First things first. It is foolish to scramble about creating a whole new website without backing up the existing one. This may seem like a little redundant to you, but trust us; you will feel a lot safer if your website is backed up.
In case you make any mistake in the new site or omit something important, you will always have a reference to go back to. Simply download all the files via FTP from your Adobe BC website. Ensure that you keep referencing these files while you are making the site. The mark perfection is to rule out assumption. Don’t assume that you’ve covered your bases. Check back to the downloaded files and you can rest assured that your final website has everything that you need.
Clean Your Existing Adobe BC Website (Optional)
Although this is an optional step, we highly recommend it if your website has seen many years. When a website becomes old and has been updated more than once, it is possible that it is left with a lot of junk that is floating around the website in the form of:
- Web Apps
- Blogs/ News
- Unnecessary Pages
Treat this migration as an opportunity to start anew and get rid of any junk that is irrelevant to your business now. Removing these unnecessary pages will make your website more efficient and will also help with the process of migration.
However, be mindful of what you omit. Do not make the mistake of deleting or removing any assets or files which have some application somewhere in the website. Once you have done the process of elimination, you may repeat the download step, to ensure that you have a fine new set of a clean set of website.
P.S: We recommend backing up your site before and after the clean up to ensure that in case you have mistakenly omitted anything of importance, you can get it back.
